I’m Leaving Medium
Why I’m Moving Away from Medium and Where to Find Me
My first Medium post was an Angular article on May 27th, 2019
. It has 75k
views and 1.2k
claps. Nowadays, my articles get anywhere from 200
to 3000
views and over 90%
of those views come from api.daily.dev.
In other words. I’ve been here a long time, Medium no longer shares my content, and it’s unlikely that anyone will even read this 😅.
I’m not leaving Medium because it’s “bad”. Honestly, I think Medium is quite good. They host and distribute your content for free without smattering it in ads. Few platforms can say that. However, Medium doesn’t share my content, and that defeats the point.
And this is probably my own fault. Nowadays, I post to my own personal blog, and cross-post here. Additionally, I never enable the pay-wall. In my mind, a cross-post still has value on Medium because they can attract more visitors and link to other pay-walled or Medium-exclusive articles. Medium does not seem to think so 😂.
I do however, always post through a publisher, and have an okay amount of followers myself. My view count (and where those views come from) is a clear indicator that Medium doesn’t distribute my articles.
Where to find me
I’m currently a Senior Software Engineer at Cisco Systems. I have a wife, kiddos, and I’m a black-belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. (In other words I’m very busy 😅). Nonetheless, if you want to continue to support me, I will continue to create software and content in my free-time at the links below. Thanks for reading :)
